Antonio Castillo was a Spanish designer whose career moved between Paris couture, American custom fashion and theatrical costume. He worked for Elizabeth Arden before taking charge at Lanvin in 1950, when the house’s label became Lanvin-Castillo.

About Antonio Castillo
Rich fabrics, embroidered surfaces and carefully controlled volume marked his formal clothes. He later established his own house and continued costume work, sharing an Academy Award with Yvonne Blake for Nicholas and Alexandra. A 1956 Lanvin-Castillo dress shows his ability to transform historical references into a contemporary evening silhouette through tiered trimming and elaborate construction.
