Humberto Leon and Carol Lim founded Opening Ceremony as a New York retail venture in 2002, building a community around international design and collaboration. Their own clothes extended the project’s playful, eclectic character.

They later became creative directors of Kenzo in 2011, bringing the perspective of independent retail and contemporary culture to the Paris house.
