Mitsuhiro Matsuda worked across clothing and eyewear, connecting fashion with architectural ideas and Japanese craftsmanship. The Tokyo-born designer founded Matsuda eyewear in 1989, extending his fashion practice into intricately detailed accessories. His clothing is represented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art by a wool suit dated to the period from 1981 to 1993.
