About Hip-hop

Hip-hop style grew from the creativity of Black and Brown communities and brought new authority to the way casual clothes were combined. Sneakers, athletic pieces, denim and distinctive accessories became tools for self-expression, with local scenes and individual wearers shaping the result. Designers such as Dapper Dan joined luxury logos to modern street silhouettes. The movement’s influence came from music, dance and everyday ingenuity as well as fashion businesses, and its many looks cannot be reduced to a single oversized uniform.
