Behind the design

Fogarty's spring/summer 1957 dress has a high, cape-like upper section over a slim fitted body. The pale garment offers a different proportion from her earlier full-skirted holiday dress. The Met records cotton and rayon and supplies a named season, allowing the two designs to be compared chronologically.
