Behind the design

Heim's circa-1950 dress places a broad belt over a dark body with a short front opening and sleeves ending below the elbow. The museum lists wool and silk. With restrained decoration, the visible emphasis falls on the relationship between neckline, waist and softly controlled skirt volume.
