About Hippie
The early 1970s extended the hippie preference for individual combinations, relaxed shapes and visible craft. Embroidery, crochet, fringes and printed fabrics could make a garment appear personal rather than standardized. Long dresses, roomy blouses and layered outfits offered space for ornament and movement. Designers including Zandra Rhodes transformed these interests into carefully made luxury clothes.
