Dopamine dressing became a common fashion expression around the return to social life in 2021, describing the pleasure of vivid color, playful prints and expressive combinations. Christopher John Rogers’s striped spring/summer 2021 dress and checked resort 2022 ensemble illustrate the visual idea. The museum examples shown here are editions made in 2025; their design seasons and production dates are different. The term is not a promise about brain chemistry: a garment’s emotional effect depends on the wearer, memories and circumstances.
