Behind the design

A dark cropped upper layer sits above a pale, full skirt in this Piguet ensemble from about 1951. Pointed sections extend downward across the waist, creating a strong transition between the two colors. The Met records cotton, silk and metal, and explicitly attributes the design to Robert Piguet.
