Behind the design
Plastic discs joined with metal rings turn a minidress into a flexible, reflective surface. The Met identifies this ca. 1966 garment as a commercial version of Rabanne’s Twelve Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials. Its linked construction makes the Space Age argument through materials as well as silhouette.
