Behind the design
This fall/winter 1996–97 ensemble rearranges the familiar tailored jacket. One side retains a dark sleeve and lapel; the opposite shoulder opens to reveal a fitted red layer. That visible disruption of a conventional garment, rather than its dark palette, explains its inclusion in deconstruction. The reading describes the indexed photograph; it does not imply that every Demeulemeester design used the same method.
