Behind the design
Margiela’s spring/summer 1990 paper vests gave discarded advertising posters a second life as clothing. Palais Galliera recounts how the designer recovered torn, layered posters from the Paris Métro, then shaped them into lined vests. This early approach anticipated his Artisanal line of garments made from transformed, recovered materials.
