Behind the design
Quant's pieced wool-jersey minidress creates the illusion of a pinafore layered over a smaller sweater. The Met compares it with a 1965 design that used separate garments and a working neckline buckle. Its orange-and-green contrast, brief hemline and playful construction exemplify the youthful visual language associated with her London boutique.
