Behind the design

This short Cardin evening dress concentrates ornament over a dark sleeveless silhouette. A small opening below the neckline interrupts the densely decorated surface. The museum records silk, glass, plastic and metallic thread and dates the piece to about 1967, documenting an embellished approach alongside the designer's geometric experiments of the same period.
