Behind the design
Westwood reworked the eighteenth-century sack-back gown with an asymmetrical neckline and a gathered pouf on one side. The green and lilac silk silhouette refers to the clothes in Antoine Watteau’s paintings. The V&A records this three-piece ensemble as a skirt, corset and deerskin glove.
