Behind the design

Made from paperlike Tyvek, this dress can be folded into an envelope and mailed. It was sold with stickers and instructions that encouraged the owner to customize it. Chalayan made transformation part of the garment’s purpose, allowing travel, correspondence and the wearer’s own interventions to continue the design process.
